New software modules available: PolyWorks Meshing and JT translator

Following the numerous requests from our customers, we are pleased to introduce as of May 1st 2010 a new extra module for PolyWorks/Inspector named Meshing. It is particularly well suited to the needs of laser scanner applications, in order to generate scan data and immediately calculate the corresponding polygonal meshes (STL format). The new software package PolyWorks/Inspector + Meshing replaces the former package PolyWorks/Inspector + IMAlign, but in addition includes IMMerge. With IMMerge, overlapping point clouds can be directly converted into polygonal meshes, which can then be filtered and decimated. For current users of PolyWorks/Inspector + IMAlign there is a special introductory offer to upgrade their license. Please contact us for further information and to receive an individual quotation.

There is also a new CAD-translator availabe for JT files. The translator is free of charge to corporate members of the JT Open Consortium on a valid PolyWorks support contract.

Looking back at EuroMold 2009

The EuroMold 2009, the world fair for moldmaking and tooling, design and appliction development, took place from December 2 to 5 in Frankfurt M., Germany. Duwe-3d had a booth in hall 8 and was able to demonstrate the reverse engineering workflow in PolyWorks/Modeler and the newly added probing functionalities in PolyWorks/Inspector. The CEO of InnovMetric Software Inc, Dr. Marc Soucy, was also present at our booth during the whole tradeshow in order to give our guests insights into the future developments of PolyWorks. The fair was a great success for both Duwe-3d and InnovMetric. Despite the still tense state of the economy we can give a positive summary of the EuroMold 2009. Many guests found their way to our booth and we are especially happy about the quality of the established contacts. Being in touch with our business partners and the hardware suppliers was at least as important to us, though. It became clear, that the whole industry is in a state of recovery and gaining confidence. We are already looking forward to future conjoint projects.

Duwe-3d celebrates its 10th anniversary

On September 18, Duwe-3d celebrated its 10th anniversary in its new office building. Dr Hans-Peter Duwe took over the exclusive PolyWorks distribution rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 1999. A new company was born which since then has gathered strong experience in the field of optical metrology and data analysis. 10 years later, Duwe-3d consists of a team of 18 metrology specialists and a subsidiary in France. Together they have helped to establish PolyWorks as the standard point cloud engineering solution and shaping the next generation metrology software: sufficient reasons to invite partners and customers to our competence center in Lindau on September 18.

The agenda of the day proposed our guests several Workshops on the new functionalities of PolyWorks V11. Duwe-3d’s application engineers were also available for individual Q&A sessions about specific PolyWorks projects at any time.

In his evening speech, Dr. Hans-Peter Duwe took his guests on a journey through ten years of metrology before opening up for dinner with excellent Thai Catering and a great atmosphere. Many guests stayed till late at night and made Duwe-3d’s anniversary party a huge success.

PolyWorks version 11 has been released!

The most anticipated official release of PolyWorks, Version 11, has hit the market and is now available for download.

Since the launching of its pre-release version in February 2009, PolyWorks V11 has generated great excitement and very positive feedback from its user community worldwide, most notably for the many new tools and improvements.

In addition to the introduction of new functionalities, it was very important for InnovMetric Software Inc. to improve productivity and to simplify handling. At this point we would like to thank our customers and partners for their many suggestions and the impulse they have given to this improvement.
